Aesop is pleased to announce the opening of Aesop Bondi Junction to complement our Sydney City Pitt Street presence. These stores are our first twin spaces.
While they are located five kilometres apart, each store is a reflection of the other; two halves of the same whole.
To design the twins, the stores were treated as one by architect Rodney Eggleston and then split. Aesop Bondi Junction is predominantly cream, made from steel and pegboard. Aesop Pitt Street is an opposing black, constructed from glass, perforated aluminium and raw steel.
The stores are tethered in a way that transcends their physical distance, by a video projection of each twin's activities on an LED screen in the other. Thus they will remain conjoined, each perpetually aware of its twin's condition.
Aesop Bondi Junction will see an almost perfect reflection of its own state in Aesop Pitt Street and vice versa, except of course for the intriguing little anomalies that characterise every pair of twins.
